Artwork must have its origins in plein air, started on site, but may be finished elsewhere. All mediums are accepted. Artwork must be no larger than 18" X 24" framed, however they must be finished appropriately for the media and framed/wired (no saw tooth) for sale on canvas/panel or paper.

The Details

Plein Air Registration
Registration starts October 1st at the Nauvoo Emporium Quilts & More, 1265 Mulholland Street, Nauvoo Illinois from 10am-6pm then subsequent days during regular business hours.

Canvas, panel and/or paper must be stamped at registration. All work must have the 2024 Bootiful Nauvoo Plein Air stamp visible after the painting is framed.

You may stamp a variety of media - canvas, panel and/or paper. You are not limited in the number of pieces stamped, but you can only submit up to three pieces for the final judging. ONLY BLANK CANVASES/BOARDS/PAPERS WILL BE STAMPED. Artwork must be no larger than 18" X 24" framed.

Exhibition and Competition

Only works delivered between October 1st and October 25th, 2024 at the Nauvoo Emporium by 10 am will be eligible for judging.

All canvases must have a picture wire system for hanging. No saw tooth hangers, D-Rings preferred.

All art done on paper should be protected under plexi/glass and framed.

The utmost care will be taken in the handling of artwork. We assume no responsibility for loss or damage to any artwork.

Artists are limited to submitting 3 pieces for judging. Judging will take place on Friday October 25th at 1:00 pm and winners will be announced at 7:00 pm during Octoberfest, People's Choice will be done during Octoberfest.

All pieces will be displayed during Octoberfest and Pumpkin Walk in the Knights of Columbus Hall. Octoberfest is a yearly event that attracts 500 people every year. Pumpkin Walk is a yearly event that attracts 10,000 people every year. Art will be displayed through both events.

Unregistered participants are ineligible for the competition or awards.

All submissions must have completed title cards with prices attached to the artwork. Be sure the competition title card is attached to the piece for entry into the competition.

Sales

All pieces entered into the competition must be for sale unless specifically noted on the piece. Beautiful Nauvoo will be responsible for all sales of the artwork on premises. Best of Show piece will become property of Nauvoo Betterment Association to use for future advertising purposes and will be displayed permanently in the City Center Building. Please respect the organizers of this event and consider donating 25% of the sale of artwork to the Nauvoo Betterment Association.

To promote each artist's work enthusiastically and professionally.
To handle all work with care and respect.

We expect the following from our artists:
Present artwork in a professional and easy, ready-to-hang manner.
Price artwork for the show at a reasonable Plein Air price (please factor in the cost of the painting and any framing which will be sold with the piece. All artwork must be READY TO HANG).

All artwork must be picked up at 8pm on October 26th unless prior arraignments have been made. Proceeds from the sale of the artwork will be mailed to the address used to register the piece after all payments have cleared.
