City Center

Fulfilling a community's vision

ENVISIONING DREAMS IN BEAUTIFUL NAUVOO

The new Nauvoo City Center is the fulfillment of community discussion, planning and fundraising. It answers the need for a physical and social center of the Nauvoo community. The space is designed to encourage and celebrate a sense of community among all who feel connected to this special city. It is also a catalyst for attracting a wide range of visitor events that have a natural connection to Nauvoo's historical significance and unique natural beauty.

The building opened in November 2023 with the library, city offices and food pantry moving in during the month. Grand Opening celebration held April 13th, 2024.

Bricks and pavers were purchased to help raise funds for the new building. They line the front sidewalk, to remember and/or honor those who have left an impact in your lives, whether it be relatives, businesses (past and present), organizations, schools, etc.

The Capital Campaign Committee is still accepting donations to go towards landscaping planters around the building, more parking on the west side (Barnett Street), completion of irrigation system, flag pole, and outdoor sign. Donations can be sent to City Hall at 1445 Mulholland, Suite 2, Nauvoo IL 62354.

The community room is designed to host a wide variety of public and private functions, such as city council meetings, senior citizen lunches, business conferences, family reunion events, weddings, hobby shows, concerts, professional training programs, school gatherings, etc.

Banquet configuration seating capacity is 130. Auditorium configuration seating capacity is 292.

The space is not designed to accommodate basketball play or fitness equipment.

It will be available to any group or individual willing to comply with usage rules as set by the city council. Scheduling priority would be accorded to Nauvoo public uses.

For information or to schedule use of the community room, call the city office at 217-453-6648.
