The Way We Were Walking Tour • Nauvoo's Mulholland Street
ca. 1850-1950
The Way We Were Walking Tour of Mulholland Street is a self-guided tour describing the history of Nauvoo's business district between the 1850s and the 1960s. The tour was developed by local residents, Karen Ihrig-Gilbert and Gene Shurts and is currently maintained by the Nauvoo Historical Society. The tour won the Illinois Governor's Home Town Award in 2011 and has been a delight to many of our community's visitors. Click here to preview or download the informational sheets. Come to Nauvoo Glassworks, each of the Saturdays in July, to experience the magic of blown glass. The Studio is Open! Hours are 9:00 to 4:00. Make an appointment and take a lesson! Located on Nauvoo's sunny south side at 1090 South Warsaw St. See you there.

Whatever the time of year - Nauvoo has entertainment to offer. From May to August, the entertainment schedule in Nauvoo increases with Sunset on the Mississippi along with plays and vignettes by Young Performing Missionaries. Tickets are necessary and free for any show that is indoors and not necessary for any show that is outdoors.

Performing all summer, these authentic bagpipers march through the main street of Nauvoo and it's historic district regularly, taking time to teach and give demonstrations for visitors. The spirit and music that fills the air is unforgettable.

Historic Nauvoo is home to several interactive sites that are ideal for children and families - Pioneer Pastimes, the Family Living Center, the Scovil Bakery, the Blacksmith Shop, and the Brickyard are examples of fun for the entire family!

This experience starts at Havenlight Fine Art where you will learn how to take professional photos with your cell phone camera. After 20 minutes of instruction you will go on a guided walk around the downtown district. The most dramatic times of day for this experience are the 2 hours around sunrise and sunset. Reservations can be made for family groups or individuals.
