The City of Nauvoo is governed by a Mayor and a City Council. The Mayor and Aldermen serve four-year terms, with elections held every odd-numbered year in April. There are three wards in the city with two Aldermen from each ward. The Mayor leads the City Council meetings and serves as an ambassador for the city. The Nauvoo City Council meets the second Tuesday of each month at 7:30 p.m. in the Nauvoo Community Center at 1445 Mulholland Street, Nauvoo, IL 62354. With the exception of executive session meetings, council meetings are open to the public. Each Alderman is assigned to a Standing Committee. The Mayor appoints citizens to several committees with the approval of the City Council.

Tacy Nelson was appointed in 2017 as a second ward alderman and re-elected in April 2021. She became Acting Mayor in March of 2023. She also represents Ward 2 as Alderman.

Brenda Adkisson was elected second ward Alderman in 2023.

Scott Sumner was elected third ward Alderman in 2023.
THIRD WARD ALDERMAN JIM BOYLES
Jim Boyles was elected as an Alderman for the third ward in April, 2009 and re-elected in 2013, 2017 and 2021.
